לכבוד הנהלת בית טובי העיר אחרי אשפוז ממשוך בית החולים, בסופו נאלצתי לעבור כריתה של רגל מתחת הברך, שוחררתי לביתי. בביתי נעשו שיפוצים להתאימו למצבי הנוכחי. במשפחתי הוחלט לאפשר לי החלמה שקטה, אחרי בירורים של נגישות כשרות מהודרת ועוד בחרנו להיות בבית טובי העיר. אני ובעלי שהינו אצלכם כשישה שבועות, פגשנו בבית אנשים מקצועיים וטובים. הם קשובים לכל בקשה ונראה שכל רצונם להיטיב עם באי הבית, המלצרים בחדר אוכל נדיבים, אנשי האחזקה מגיעים בזמן סביר לתת שירות, האחיות והצוות הרפואי דואגים לדיירים ושואלים לשלומם, והשומרים בכניסה לבית מברכים את הנכנסים לשלום. במהלך שהותי פגשתי שני אנשים נפלאים ר' שלמה וולך והגברת סימה קלירס. למחרת היום בו הגענו לבית טובי העיר, ר' שלמה בא לבדוק אם חסר לנו דבר מה, בחדר לידנו שיפצו את חדר האמבטיה, והוא שמע את הרעש, מיד הציעו לנו לעבור לחדר אחר, החדר שהוצע לנו היה מחודש ומשודרג, וכל זה היה מבלי שבקשנו דבר. ר' שלמה דאג שהפיזיותרפיסט יבקר בחדרי ויתן לי תרגילים לחיזוק. הצטננתי והשתעלתי מאוד, קורה, הגברת סימה הזמינה לי תור אצל הרופאה. אמרתי לה:" וכי על שיעול אלך לרופא" והיא בשלה: " איני רוצה אותך חולה" ובסופו של דבר היא צדקה, הרופאה רשמה לי אנטיביוטיקה. וסימה באה לראות אותי ולשאול בשלומי, כאילו אין לה מטלות אחרות. המיטה בחדרי לא היתה נוחה לי, היא נמוכה קשה לי לקום ממנה. האחות אמרה שתבקש שיתנו לי מיטה של בית חולים, אחרי כמה ימים באו אנשים האחזקה והכניסו את המיטה. סימה באה לראות שהמיטה מתאימה לצרכי, ושהוקל לי. אלו מספר דוגמאות הממחישות את היחס הטוב לו זכינו בתקופת שהותנו בבית. אנו אסירי תודה לכל הסגל שהנעים את התקופה הקשה שאנו עוברים בשלב זה בחיינו, ובזכותם הפכנו לממליצים טובים על בית טובי העיר. בברכה חוה גוטליב
